Choosing the Right Kitchen Cabinet White

Choosing the right white for your kitchen cabinets may seem simple, but looking at paint samples may be overwhelming. Our kitchen remodel Waukesha WI taught us that not all whites are equal. Right white may make your kitchen look fresh and inviting, wrong can make it feel chilly and sterile.

We considered our kitchen's general atmosphere first. From warm and inviting to crisp and sophisticated, white is versatile. Like choosing a home clothing, you want it to represent your personality and taste. We wanted a bright, clean, and warm kitchen to be our home's heart.

Our kitchen lighting was our initial check. Colors are heavily influenced by natural light. We have several windows, so the kitchen is bright during the day. A colder white looked almost blue in harsh light, which wasn't what we wanted. Instead, we picked a warm white to complement the natural light and give the room a cozy feel.

Our kitchen's colors were also considered. We have soft grey backsplash and light beige veining on our counters. The white we chose should compliment these features without clashing. We chose a beige-tinged off-white since pure white was dreary. Like the final puzzle piece, it completed everything.

Texture and finish are equally important as color. We tried matte and high-gloss coatings. matte finishes were flat and didn't reflect light, making the kitchen feel smaller. But high gloss was extremely shiny and exposed every fingerprint and dirt. Satin provided a beautiful gloss without being reflective. Like finding the right balance between too much and too little.

Our kitchen design and cabinet style were also evaluated. We wanted a timeless white for our shaker-style cabinets. Avoid trendy whites that may be outdated in a few years. Instead, we choose a classic color that matched our cabinets' historic elegance and would last.
